Katarina Mikhailova is a Montreal based concert pianist. She holds a Performance Diploma from the Rimsky-Korsakov St. Petersburg State Conservatory and Doctorate and Master’s degrees in piano performance from the University of Montreal. Katarina is a proud recipient of several prestigious scholarships in Europe and in Canada and a winner of the concerto competition in her native city of St. Petersburg, Russia.
A child prodigy, Katarina began playing the piano at 5 years old. By the age of 7 she was already performing in major halls in St. Petersburg. She made her orchestral debut at the age of 11 playing Haydn’s D Major Concerto with the St. Petersburg Chamber Orchestra. Katarina’s passionate performances and outstanding improvisations have captivated audiences throughout Europe and North America. She has performed in such prominent venues as Carnegie Hall (New York), Centre Pierre-Péladeau and Place des Arts (Montreal), and the Shostakovich Philharmonic Hall (St. Petersburg). Katarina was a guest soloist with the Symphony Orchestra of Crane School of Music (Potsdam, New York) State and an invited pianist on numerous occasions for the University of Montreal Orchestra. Her recitals and interviews have been broadcast live by Radio Canada International and by the Montreal local radio station Radio Ville-Marie.
A multi-talented musician, critically acclaimed pianist and sought-after chamber musician, Katarina is also a piano instructor and an accompanist at the University of Montreal.
